Ivey Engineering Inc. is a design, construction consulting, forensic engineer and expert witness firm specializing in HVAC, energy conserving building systems, plumbing, process piping and fire protection systems.

Construction claims preparation and defense consulting services such as schedule analysis, impact analysis, cost estimating, change order pricing, damage calculation, presentation and litigation support are performed for claims involving delay, disruption, differing site conditions, over inspection, excessive change orders, change order entitlement, cardinal changes and abandonment.

Heating and energy conservation design errors and omissions and professional liability claims are investigated, analyzed, prepared, presented and defended.

Heating equipment failure and product defects are investigated involving defective heating equipment. Furnace, heater, heat pump, fan coil unit, VAV box, terminal unit, boiler, packaged equipment, energy saving equipment and other specialized equipment problems are investigated. Defective pumps and valves are also investigated.

IEI investigates heating system construction defects involving piping such as copper tubing, PVC, CPVC, steel, PEX and polybutylene, supports, hangers, seismic restraints, access problems, fresh or outside air problems, odors, return air problems, leaking ducts, ductwork problems, flues, chimneys, chimney draft problems, air exchanges, hydronic hot water piping failures, VAV boxes, terminal units, registers, diffusers, air distribution devices, insulation problems, mold, moisture, dust infiltration, contamination and corrosion

Damage and loss due to leak history, current leaks, condensation, contamination, corrosion, dezincification, fire, and infiltration is investigated.

IEI investigates health and safety hazards such as mold, inhalation of fiberglass, fire hazard, inhalation, contamination, smoke, gas leaks, boiler safety, carbon monoxide poisoning, construction safety, construction injuries, product safety, secondhand smoke, gas leaks, refrigerant leaks and combustion air separation.
